So?

This blog started out as a step by step process.  To get the best benefit, go back to the February 2011 posts and start with "Set Yourself Free".  So very glad you stopped by.

You can make excuses, or you can take action, but you can't do both.  You don't have money, you don't have time, your scared, your an introvert, you don't have skills and the list goes on and on.  There are movies and books and articles and interviews with all kinds of people who have overcome insurmountable obstacles.  If your knocked down, stand up.  If your suffering from depression here's an ah ha moment.  When it's all about you, it's hard to overcome.  When you start looking beyond yourself and look to help those who are less fortunate than you, and yes there are people less fortunate than you, you start finding a world of hope and opportunity like never before.
When I first started this blog I said only 3 % will take the challenge.  Be one of the remarkable few who take up the challenge and see where it takes you.  The world is begging for ideas and new innovations.  You could be one who makes such a difference that you even find it hard to believe yourself.
Are you one who has to see it to believe it?   As Dr. Phil says, "How's that working for ya?"  Be the one that believes it and then sees it.  Write down your visions and go for it!

Risky Business

This blog started out as a step by step process.  To get the best benefit, go back to the February 2011 posts and start with "Set Yourself Free".  So very glad you stopped by.

What do you consider risky?  A lot of people put money into mutual funds thinking it is a safe choice.  I have put some time into learning a little about investing and the stock market.   I am by no means an expert, but I was shocked to learn that when you put your money into investment programs, they use all of your money, your cut of the gains is only about 25%.  The investment company keeps the other 75% which you don't know about and then often charge a commision or maintenance fee for keeping up with your account.  Over a year you might have increased your investment by what?  6% on a good year?  You say you are not a risk taker?
You've just put up your money that you get no immediate reward from with no guarantee that your money is going to make a profit or even stay above a loss.  Your risk is huge, the investment company's risk is 0.  I've climbed out of that box and found a better, much less risky way to invest my money.  I used my list as the map.

The Need for Speed

This blog started out as a step by step process.  To get the best benefit, go back to the February 2011 posts and start with "Set Yourself Free".  So very glad you stopped by.

I am always, always thirsty for knowledge.  I have read hundreds of books, I have listened to hundreds of CDs on finances, stock investing, diets, dealing with others and their thought processes, starting a business, marketing, everything under the sun.  About 10 years ago, I went to a program at church about concurring debt.  The just of it was to live frugally, never buy anything new, snowball your debt, only give generously to the church, and once you get out of debt live below your means and save, save, save.  I tried that, I was mizerable, my children have missed out on tons of experiences, and guess what, over 6 years we got...NOWHERE!
This plan doesn't take into account medical expenses which will eat you up with just one emergency visit to the hospital.  We were back at square one in an instant after 6 years.  That's when I really got serious about thinking outside of the box.  Sure, that program can work for some people but it didn't work for us.  Where there is this school of thought, there is another school of thought and that is money and opportunity is in abundance for those who are willing to take SOME risk, explore and educate themselves on things they are weak in knowledge about.  Once you have some knowledge, continue learning but start taking action on something even if it causes a little fear.  You can either live with financial shackles all your life or you can open your mind to multiple sources of income that increases the quality of life to the level you CHOOSE.
I still give graciously to my church, I am a giver, I have a servants heart.  I don't want to be rich to hoard it up and save myself, I want to have the power to give and share and offer hope to those who are where I was.  But that's where I draw my line in the sand.
I have a limited time to get things done.  I might get wiped off the face of the earth tomorrow and not get to see the vision I have for you to develop into reality.  That is why I have the sense of urgency and I hope that you do too.  I 've lost 6 years I won't get back, how many have you lost?  If you will make your 100 list, I will show you how to make your life design reality.
I love everyone, whether they choose to challenge themselves or not, but if you are the person who wants more, do it.  Procratination is a disease in my book.  Get with it!
Tomorrow I am going to start sharing with you some of the boxes I have BURNED!

Streeeeetch!

This blog started out as a step by step process.  To get the best benefit, go back to the February 2011 posts and start with "Set Yourself Free".  So very glad you stopped by.

I have been so busy with new exciting things that have been happening the past few days.  They can all be directly linked to my list.  I'm telling you, you have to do this.  I wish so badly that the people that I have been talking to would share their comments on my blog but they are a little reluctant.  I had someone say that making the list didn't make any sense to them, but now that they have, not doing it doesn't make sense.  They are starting to make vocal some of the things on their lists resulting in positive action due to sharing information with others who share common interests.  When we had the list party the other night, I had someone there who said they had thought about some stuff but didn't have many ideas.  When we started sharing things off of each others list as a group, she started writing lots of things.  When we got to the charitable part, she had 10 things in record time. Within an hour, she had over 50 things.  Yeah!
The next thing we will be doing is playing a game called CashFlow designed by Robert Kiyosaki.  It is another key component in getting your mind opened to figuring out where streams of money can come from to help you accomplish the things that mean the most to you.  Go back to my second blog and look once again at the different categories to break your list down.   Think about what things you want for your children to make their lives run smoothly.  Things like tutoring, or making sure you have a will.  This list isn't about just being shallow and greedy, it's about discovering what truly means the most to you and taking steps towards seeing those things become reality.  Take a deep breath and then stretch you brain.  Think, think, think!

Party on!

If viewing this blog for the first time, it is most beneficial to start with "Set Yourself Free".  Thank you so much for stopping by.

This Friday night I am having a party like the one I suggested you have.  The dinner will be simple, the guest will be from ages 20 to 78, the activities will include board games, pool, ping pong or just sitting and visiting and the challenge is to share their list with others and see if we can collectively inspire each other to come up with their list of 100.  I am anxious to see if other people find this as inspiring and as exciting as I do.  Once the list are complete, we then move on to using various strategies to accomplish these desires.  Since the houskeeper I have on my list hasn't come to fruition, I'm making this week short and sweet to get ready for that.  Have a great weekend.

Lessons, lessons, everywhere!

This blog started out as a step by step process.  To get the best benefit, go back to the February 2011 posts and start with "Set Yourself Free".  So very glad you stopped by.

Lately I wake up at about 5:30 in the morning and my mind is racing from all the new doors that are opening in the very short time that I have been doing this blog.  Life is exciting when you don't limit your thoughts and actions to what your expected to think and do.   Sharing with others their ideas and thoughts that they have had buried in a "wishful thinking" file has become an amazing adventure in itself.
My college degree pales in comparison to the lessons I'm learning day after day after day.  I wake up knowing that today I am going to learn something I didn't know, I'm open to the lessons life has to offer and I never know where or who they are going to come from.  It could be a three year old child, a grocery store clerk or anybody.   I look at life as a neverending test in every part of my life.  If you are paying attention to the lessons, then most tests become a breeze.  Think I'm crazy?  Crazy excited!
What can you learn today?

Counting blessings 101

GOD IS GREAT!
A beautiful sunrise, "Thank you, God".
A sky of puffy clouds, "Thank you God".
My children who keep me grounded and stretch me daily to be the best I can be, "Thank you, God".
My husband, my best friend, my sole mate, "Thank you, God".
The fabulous family I was blessed to grow up in, "Thank you, God".
The friends I have in my life that are more precious than gold, "Thank you, God".
My pets that provide joy and cheap therapy, "Thank you, God".
Living in America, "Thank you, God".
My ability to forgive those who trespass against me, "Thank you, God".
A world filled with beautiful music, "Thank you, God".
I could go on forever but now...
it's your turn.

Frozen in Fear?

This blog started out as a step by step process.  To get the best benefit, go back to the February 2011 posts and start with "Set Yourself Free".  So very glad you stopped by.

You can watch the national news and get yourself worked up into a tizzy about the economy.  It's bad, it's real bad and guess what, it's going to get worse... for a lot of people who insist on keeping a box on their head.   People keep doing the same things over and over again, expecting to get a different result.  Statistics are showing that some 3 out of 4 college graduates are not finding a job in their field of study, many are moving back home because they can't even find any job that can sustain them enough to live out on their own.  Now these college graduates have thousands of dollars in student loans and no job to pay for it.  Turn on the TV and every10 minutes there is a commercial about going to school to learn a new skill.  For what?  A job that is non-existant.  Wow, how logical is that?  Whose really making the money here?  The schools of course.  Going to school is like playing the lottery anymore but people still think, that only happens to everyone else, but that won't happen to me.   Think about this.  In EVERY economy, there are people making fortunes and people losing fortunes.  The ones that are losing have a box on their head.  Make your list with people who are making a list.  Look at what you want, look at what they want, start up discussion, opportunities are everywhere.  Most of the riches people in American history came out of the Great Depression.  Make an effort to do this and I guarantee you will start thinking outside of the boxes that are holding you in a stagnant state of fear.  Your focus will change from the things that you have no control over to things that make a difference, things like raising great kids, giving generously to charities that desperately need help, getting financial troubles under control and so much more.
Who do you think is going to come out better, the person who is reactive to situations they just chose to ignore or the person who is proactive because the writing is on the wall and they are preparing for the difficulties that will without doubt be knocking at the door?  The Lord says put your trust in him, worry is a waste of time.  Making your list is such a great way to get this positive energy into motion.

Draw a line in the sand, man!

This blog started out as a step by step process.  To get the best benefit, go back to the February 2011 posts and start with "Set Yourself Free".  So very glad you stopped by.

It took me a really long to overcome judgements and criticisms from others.  That's where this list made a huge difference.  I could look back on the things I  had accomplished  and KNOW for a fact that this statement is true, " Opinions are like assholes and everybody has one."  It's human nature for people to line up and tell you why you can't do something.  Maybe it's because the words are coming out of the mouth of someone who has no desire to improve themselves, or maybe it's coming from someone who has that line of people shooting it off at them.  Don't make judgements either way, just know that what you want is what YOU want and that's all that matters. Very few are there to be a cheerleader. My mom is ALWAYS my number one fan, (I love you Mom, more than words can say) but it helps when you get the whole pep squad behind you and  I have that now.    How?  By being positive, by finding the good in everybody, even when it's a challenge, and by being the cheerleader when I see that someone needs it.  If you need a cheerleader,  you can call on me.  What you have to do for sure is draw your line in the sand and don't let others cross it.

Unbox your head!

This blog started out as a step by step process.  To get the best benefit, go back to the February 2011 posts and start with "Set Yourself Free".  So very glad you stopped by.

When I made my list I thought it was a dumb idea but I had read it over and over again in the books written by very famous, very successful, very rich and very charitable people.  They did it and the results were tremedous.  I started with some doubt, but it didn't cost me a dime so what the heck.  As things started to move in a positive direction, it started becoming very exciting.  As a result, I have become a very effective problem solver.  Macgyver is my nickname and often people come to me to help find a solution to their problem.  I find it very fun and rewarding.
I am a huge fan of Robert Kiyosaki as well and his outside of the box thinking has really inspired me as well.  Most people in this economy are shrinking down, tightening their belts and settling into living on a tight rein.  Robert shows you how there is money flowing around everywhere and those that are looking and know what to look  for are taking advantage of the huge opportunities.  He's the reason I know that if you can make a list of 100 things you want, I can show you how you can become very successful.   Are you up for the challenge?

The Fork in the Road

This blog started out as a step by step process.  To get the best benefit, go back to the February 2011 posts and start with "Set Yourself Free".  So very glad you stopped by.

What a great trip!  It's a time to get away from it all and put the focus on the things that truly matter in life.  We rode bikes, hiked, grilled out and laughed...and laughed and laughed.  No video games, no cell phones, no TV, just time to reconnect and enjoy all the blessing that God has showered upon us.
My kids attend a school that had a winter break so they had no school Monday.  At 7:45 I am out walking the dog.  There were Cardinals and Blue Jays whistling and flying around in the trees close to me.  Out in the distance I see the lake and it is pink from the reflection of the punch colored sun coming up over the hill.  Thousands of Canadian Geese are honking out on the water.  Several hundred at a time take off going out for their daily forage, some passing overhead.  Because it's Monday, we are the only people in the park and the feeling of having the freedom to be right there is like no other.  If I hadn't decided to take the fork in the road and start down a path less traveled, I would have missed it.
I have had those jobs that required all the best hours of my day.  I have had those jobs that took me away from all of my first child's milestones.  It angered me because I knew that I wanted more from life than that.  I want you to get mad too.  Your missing so much because you haven't done the things it takes to get out of the rut.  And the longer you stay in the rut, the deeper it gets.  That rut looks like trainwreck TV.  Stupid people doing stupid things.  Their reward?  Getting paid millions because your sitting on the couch watching it.  REALLY?   Is that living to you?  What's your reward?   Your kids and grandkids making the stupid people the role models, making bad choices and suffering horrible consequences because your so complacent to just let it happen. If your kids are making bad choices, you might ought to get out that mirror again.  Do you have that victim mentality and belly-ache about everything and anything but don't take action or make a stand on anything?  You have the power to change any situation, you just haven't figured it out yet.
There are people in the world that have all the things they want.  They are at every event their child participates in.  There are people making a difference everywhere. That tells me that if someone else could do it, so could I...and so can you.  I'm not going to say however, if I can do it, so can you.  That really is a stupid statement in itself because it goes back to the thing I said on the very first day and that is you have to have the RIGHT VISION AND THE RIGHT MINDSET.   My eyes roll back in my head when I hear someone on the weight lose commercials say that.  You just have to turn at the fork in the road.  Everyday there is a fork in the road and you have to continuously turn toward the road less traveled if you really want something different, something more.
Okay, I'll step down off my soap box now.  Have you taken the fork in the road?  Have you started you lists?  Don't be the 97%.  This is easy to do.  But guess what, it's even easier NOT to do.  I'm done lecturing.  For those of you who will stay the course, doors will open, opportunities will immerge, things will start changing for the better, peace will arise and you will see what I am trying to tell you.

I'm sorry, your flight has been delayed.

This blog started out as a step by step process.  To get the best benefit, go back to the February 2011 posts and start with "Set Yourself Free".  So very glad you stopped by.

So there you are, your excited about your trip and you get to the airport to find out your flight has been delayed.  What a bummer.  Well sometimes things get in our way.  That's why we want to pay special attention to the things that will get in the way of making this life trip smooth sailing.   This includes debts of all kinds that keep you up with worry at night, difficult people that make your life miserable,  a job that makes you unhappy or maybe even an unreliable car that you know isn't going to start.  I have found that in my journey everything that is a problem for me requires thinking from the opposite direction.  You can put a lot of things on your list using this technique.
I remember saying once, " I don't know what I want, I just know what I don't want."
OK then!
Here is an example:  I don't want to be working on weekends.
Put on your list that you want a job that doesn't require working weekends.  But I have asked you to put even the things that you think are unreasonable on your list so what would be even better is, I want to be able to sustain my lifestyle without a job.
Another example would be, I hate that my brother-in-law shows up unannounced at my house and tells my all of his ridiculous fishing stories for hours on end.
(Just so you know, I have a great brother-in-law and he doesn't do this)
Put on your list move to someplace far enough away that he can't do that or find my brother-in-law a new hobby other than showing up at my house.
See, you could probably make a list just by thinking about all the things you don't want.
Get it?  Let's see what you can do about getting some more things added today.
My list consist of taking my children camping at least once a month so I will be skipping a couple of days of blogging to do just that.
Have a great weekend!

Alternate Routes

If viewing this blog for the first time, it's best to start with the "Set Yourself Free"
So very glad you stopped by!

Do you love music as much as I do.  Just like reading a good book, a great song can take you places you've never even been.  The other day I was painting my office and the song "Already Gone" by the Eagles came on.  I've heard that song hundreds of times but this time I REALLY heard this song.  The last verse of that song was an Ah Ha moment. It goes like this...

Well I know it wasn't you who held me down,
Heaven knows it wasn't you who set me free,
So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains,
And we never even know WE have the key.

Do you get that?  If you don't have everything you want in this life and you need someone to blame, you better go get a mirror.
Sure we have been hard-wired in our beliefs about so many different things. A few examples are: I have to have a college education to really make money.  Wrong!  I know just as many people who are successful without college as those who went.  Rich people are snobs.  Wrong, wrong, wrong!  The people I know that have money are very giving and blow me away with their generosity.  I'll have to work until I am at least 65 before I can retire.  Well, if that's what you want to do.  It's pretty much a crap shoot to believe that and find out later you can't.   Did you know the average person only has about $2500 available cash at the age of 65.  I happen to know if you educate yourself, it is possible to take $500, reinvest it over and over again and be at a state of retirement in less that 24 months.  Kids need to be 16 before they can get a real job. Wrong!  There are great entrepreneurs out there who are children. Let's all stop thinking that way. Be willing to be re-wired.
Having trouble with your list?  I have some suggetions.  Share your journey with a friend or lots of friends.  Get them to start doing their list.  Have a get together at your house playing games, eating, watch a movie and have the conversations focus on adding things to your list.  Take you notepad and go out shopping with your list building buddy...at the boat and RV show, at the travel agency, at the electronics store, the mall or wherever.  Don't buy anything just get your list moving.  Volunteer at the local dog pound or food bank and pay attention to the need around you.  Look for things that could be improved if the funds were available.  Imagine yourself as the source of the funds and put those improvements on your list.  Listen when others are talking to you about anything.  That triggers tons of ideas in my head for business ideas and things I could change for the better if I can just find the right sources.  Sure I am asking you to put a lot of focus on yourself right now but in the long run it will take you so many more places.
Most people have a low point.  My was when I was almost 200 pounds overweight and so depressed that the doctors told me my only hope was anti-depressants.  I heard Dr. Phil say once, " If you really love your kids, you'll take care of their mother."  That was some really great advice.  Once I started loving myself, the world started changing for the better.  Go ahead, give yourself a break.

Determining a destination

This blog started out as a step by step process.  To get the best benefit, go back to the February 2011 posts and start with "Set Yourself Free".  So very glad you stopped by.

Let's take today to go over our categories.

Adventure can be as complex or as simple as you want it to be.  A lot of the things I added to my list came off of the travel channel, looking at travel brochures and just hearing about places friends and family have been.
Charities and Volunteerism are the things that you feel passionate about.  Lately I have heard so many people expressing their desire to be able to volunteer on a full time basis.  There is a lot of need out there in so many areas.  See if you can at least get 10 things on your list right here.
Do-Dads/Things I want  Everyone wants something.  It stimulates economic growth and is good for America.  Just know that the things won't come off of this list unless they are purchased with cash on hand.  Go crazy, come on and DREAM!
Education  Have you ever wanted to learn a musical instument, a new sport, go back to school?  Of course you have.
Family and Friend  Family time is precious, they all grow up too fast.  Remember, there are no do-overs and coulda, woulda, shoulda just don't matter at that point.  How about people you haven't seen in a long time.  Plan a reunion, take someone to lunch, it all goes here.
Financial If you dread going out to the mailbox because it's just bad news, write all of those worries here.  List debts separately.  List things like college funds,  insurance desires, preplanned long term health care, wills, computer programs for financial planning, increased revenue, and so on.
Home Improvements Not really much explanation needed here.
Personal Growth  These are things that strech your mind.  Books, events, meeting someone famous who has had a lot of influence on your life,  organization, etc.
Physical Goals Run a mile, get laser eye surgey, you get the idea.
Real Estate/Investment/Business Everyone has had at least one idea for a business, right?  Want to own a vacation home?
Spiritual Church activities, forgiveness and greatfulness, reading the word daily are a few examples.
Hobbies, gifts and talents  By listing these, you may find a connection with others later on.

This is the things that I  need to have a balance in my life.  If you think of something else, I would love to hear from you.
See you tomorrow,
Judy

We're going to need a map!

This blog started out as a step by step process.  To get the best benefit, go back to the February 2011 posts and start with "Set Yourself Free".  So very glad you stopped by.

Most people don't take a long trip without a map, clothes, an itenerary and a lot of planning.  Isn't is crazy that we are never taught to plan and navigate the most important journey of all?  Our LIFE!  There are no do-overs.  When someone ask you where do you see yourself in 5 years, can you answer that?  If you do answer, is it really a plan or wishful thinking.  We should be taught at a very young age to start writing down our vision for ourselves.  Only 3% of people will actually take the time to write down their goals.  100% can, only 3% will and of those 3% they often accomplish 95% to100% of those goals.  Wow!  Aren't you curious about what that might mean for you?  Thomas Edison didn't know how he would make his discovery, he just knew he would do it.  You don't have to have the details of how your are going to accomplish your goals, you just have to WRITE IT DOWN.
This list however is much more than a bucket list.  This list has many categories to provide a balance in all areas of your life.  We are going to call this list "The Perfect Plan".  I would suggest you get you a little inexpensive notepad and leave a few pages for each category.  We are going to shoot for 100 things to start.  Always be adding however because you never want to run out of goals.  Do not limit your list to things that you only think are reasonable.  What does your perfect plan look like?  We have a very limited amount of time on this earth, why are you wasting one minute of it?  If you've wished it , dreamed it, or imagined it, write it down.

Set yourself free

Hello world,
My name is Judy and I am starting this blog to share with you all the Ah Ha moments that have flooded over me in the past few years.  The biggest being whatever you believe to be true IS your reality.  Come on a journey with me and let me show you what I mean.  First thing's first.  In order to have success, not just financial success, but any measure of success in any part of your life, you must have two very specific things.  Vision and the RIGHT mindset.  THAT'S IT!  Read any self- improvement book, any story of people overcoming unbelievable odds and that is the common thread.  Read the Bible and there it is, it's filled with vision and mindset.  The problem is you can read all those things and the words and the message can be very inspiring but figuring out how to apply what you have read can get bogged up in your everyday life.  The purpose of my blog is to share my journey with you and help guide you on your journey to a much higher quality of life.
Today I want you to start thinking. Give some serious thought to what life looks like when you design it exactly as you want it to be.
See you tomorrow,
Judy
